The 5th Franch-German-Japanese AI Symposium will take place on October 27 and 28, 2026, at the Delegation of the European Union to Japan in Tokyo.

This year’s theme is “Operationalizing AI: Safe, Efficient, and Privacy-preserving AI Systems at Scale.”

Leading experts from France, Germany, Japan, and other countries will come together to discuss the future of trustworthy AI and the latest approaches to deploying AI systems responsibly at scale.

First launched in 2018, the French-German-Japanese Symposium on AI has since been held in 2020, 2022 and 2024, making this year’s event the fifth edition. To date, the symposium has welcomed more than 2,000 participants and over 300 speakers from academia, industry and policymaking.

Once again, the event will provide a platform for cross-border and interdisciplinary exchange, with the aim of fostering new partnerships and strengthening international collaboration in AI innovation.

Dr. Gumpp will also speak at the symposium. Drawing on his practical experience in data protection and cybersecurity, he will contribute to the international discussion on the responsible and trustworthy deployment of AI in society.
